40 Weeks Pregnant
Mother
At 40 weeks pregnant (or perhaps a little more if you are over your due date), you will be anxiously awaiting the first signs of labour. You may begin to feel a little sick, tearful and may suffer diarrhoea, an imminent sign of impending childbirth! Try to relax and keep calm. Very soon your long-awaited baby will be here!
Some women experience a sudden burst of energy just before the birth but it's important that you try to conserve your energy for whenever labour begins and baby arrives.
Now is a good time to look over your birth plan to make sure you haven't missed anything out and of course your hospital bag should be sitting, fully packed and ready to go!
Baby
All your baby's organs are now fully formed and he is ready to be born. However, many pregnancies, especially first pregnancies, continue for another week or even two!
Your baby may now measure between 51 and 55cm long!
