7 Weeks Pregnant - Signs of Pregnancy
Mother
7 weeks pregnant is a good time to see your GP if you haven't already done so. It is at this stage that your GP will book antenatal appointments for your ultrasound scans and check-ups and ensure you have a healthy pregnancy diet and lifestyle.
Your GP will also want to know that you are not taking any medication contra-indicated during pregnancy and that you are not performing activities that may harm your unborn baby. You'll also be given your due date if you are able to confirm the date of your last period. If not, an early scan will give an indication of your baby's birth date!
As soon as you realise you are pregnant you should be especially careful around animals as there is a slight risk of toxoplasmosis which can harm a developing baby. If you do have to handle cat litter, wear gloves or better still ask someone else to help out. Your should also take care to wash your hands regularly and wear gloves if you are gardening or working with animals.
Baby
Your baby's eyes and ears are apparent, although as yet they are not in the normal positions. His nose and internal organs are developing and your baby can now move in the amniotic sac. However, it will be quite some time before you can feel these movements!
Tiny arms and legs are continuing to grow as are little fingers and toes! Teeth also begin to develop within the gums.
