Birth Injuries: Treatment of Cervical Tears
Most cervical tears are relatively minor and as long as there is no major bleeding, will need little or no further treatment. However, if you have suffered from a more serious laceration during the birth of your baby, then your midwife and doctors will want to bring the resulting bleeding under control as quickly as possible.
In many cases, this will require an operation to be undertaken under surgical conditions within an operating theatre and will require the use of an anaesthetic.
After the repair has been carried out there should be no further problems, although you will be advised on aftercare and will probably receive a follow-up appointment to ensure the area is healing properly.
