Causes of Infertility
There are many known and as yet unknown causes of infertility. However, some of the the questions you should think about if you are having problems conceiving are:
-
Do you, or does your partner, smoke? Smoking can affect fertility.
-
Are you very overweight? Excess weight can affect your hormonal balance and cause fertility problems.
-
Are you underweight or have you ever been anorexic? Again this can affect fertility.
-
Do you live a very stressful lifestyle? Stress can impact upon fertility?
-
Do you eat a healthy, well balanced diet?
-
Do you or have you ever suffered from endometriosis?
-
Have you ever been diagnosed with Pelvic inflammatory Disease (PID)?
-
Do you have polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)?
By considering questions like these it may be that by making a few changes to your lifestyle you will be able to kick-start your fertility without medical intervention.
It is important to realise that whilst medical intervention often successfully leads to the birth of a much longed for baby, this is not always the case and for many couples the loss of the dream to have a baby can be devastating.
If you do require any medical intervention, you will probably be offered counselling beforehand to prepare you for the difficulties that lie ahead...
