Early Symptoms of Mesothelioma
Early symptoms of mesothelioma are difficult to detect as in the early stages sufferers may not show any signs of the disease at all until the cancer has become more developed. Symptoms, when they do develop, are caused by the growth of the cancer and its pressure on a nerve or other internal organ.
Both pleural mesothelioma and peritoneal mesothelioma have a number of symptoms. However, because mesothelioma is such a rare illness, sadly the symptoms are often mistaken for something less serious and it is often only after other illnesses are ruled out that mesothelioma is suspected.
It is very important that you tell your doctor if you have ever worked in an asbestos environment at the earliest opportunity so that he will recognise any early symptoms of mesothelioma with which you may be presenting. The earlier mesothelioma treatments are initiated the better your prognosis.
