Early symptoms of mesothelioma are difficult to detect as in the early stages sufferers may not show any signs of the disease at all until the cancer has become more developed. Symptoms, when they do develop, are caused by the growth of the cancer and its pressure on a nerve or other internal organ.
Both pleural mesothelioma and peritoneal mesothelioma have a number of symptoms. However, because mesothelioma is such a rare illness, sadly the symptoms are often mistaken for something less serious and it is often only after other illnesses are ruled out that mesothelioma is suspected.
