Mesothelioma Risks and Causes - Radiation
Exposure to thorium dioxide (Thorotast), a type of radiation treatment used in some x-rays up until the 1950's, has been shown to be implicated in the development of pleural mesothelioma and peritoneal mesothelioma.
However, the evidence is not conclusive as some studies have shown no increased risk of developing the disease after this particular treatment.
