Mesothelioma risks and causes include contact with Asbestos, Zeolite, some forms of Radiation and the SV40 Virus (Simian Virus).
Although rare, mesothelioma cases are on the increase and around five times more men suffer from it than women. Since asbestos is known to be one of the main risk factors for mesothelioma, it is thought that this is possibly why more men suffer from it as their occupations in the past may have placed them in situations where asbestos was used.
