Pamela Breast Feeding After Breast Implants
Perhaps one of the best known Hollywood breast feeding mothers is Pamela Anderson. Although it's been a few years since she breastfed her own babies, because she has had breast implants, many mothers look to her as a positive breastfeeding role model due to the fact that she is proof that implants do not necessarily mean breast feeding is impossible.
If you have had breast implants, as long as your milk ducts were not damaged in any way during the operation, then it should still be possible for you to breastfeed. If you know you will want to breastfeed at some point in the future and you are considering breast implants, then you should have a chat with your consultant prior to your operation to see if they can prevent any damage to your milk ducts during the operation. If they are aware that breastfeeding is something that is important to you they will either reassure you that your procedure can go ahead or they may advise you to hold off for a few years until you have had your babies and successfully breastfed.
Of course, if like Pamela, breast feeding is important to you now but perhaps wasn't a consideration when you had your breast implants, then you may want to speak to the surgeon who performed your operation at some point during your pregnancy to see if he can tell you what the chances are for successful breastfeeding. For many women, breast feeding will be unaffected, but if in your case it isn't then you can prepare yourself mentally to accept the fact before giving birth and make arrangements for either substitute milk or donor milk to be available.
