Stem Cell Research: Brain Disease Treatment
Organ and tissue regeneration is one of the most exciting aspects of stem cell research. It is anticipated that in the not too distant future replacement cells and tissues will be able to be grown for some brain disorders.
For example, patients suffering from Alzheimer's and Parkinson's may be able to have new tissue implanted into their brains thereby alleviating the symptoms they suffer and potentially even offering the hope of a cure.
Embryonic stem cells have already been differentiated into these cell types so results are looking good for future treatments.
