Treatments for Cervical Changes - Laser Therapy
Laser therapy treatment uses a hot beam of light to vapirise and thus destroy the abnormal cells picked up during your smear test.
The treatment is performed under local anasethetic allowing you to reamin awake and alert and able to return home afterwards. You may be aware of a slight burning smell as the treament is undertaken. However, it often only takes up to 10 minutes to complete the treatment so you will be able to leave soon!
You may find it helpful to try practising some distraction or relaxation techniques to help you relax during the procedure.
