Breastfeeding Questions - Tattoos When Breastfeeding
I was wondering if I am able to get tattooed while I'm breastfeeding...
I do not see any reason why not, but mention it to the tattooist first- just in case there are precautions against it due to the dye used.
The main risk would be from infection afterwards such as Hepatitis or HIV, so make sure you go to a reputable tattoo parlour and ensure they use clean needles. And take care of your skin after the tattoo in case it gets infected as blood poisoning could then result.
Current advice is that you should not have your breasts tattooed whilst you are still breastfeeding.
If you do go for it, you may find that it is more painful than normal. After pregnancy your skin can be very sensitive to pain for a few months.
So you might prefer to leave it for a while!
