Breastfeeding Questions - Producing Breastmilk after Weaning
I am 28 and have 4 children. I finished feeding my youngest 5 months ago. I just noticed today that I still have milk like I never stopped breastfeeding him. I nursed him for 11 months. Is this normal? I got my tubes tied when he was 3 months old. Please reply.
Sometimes this happens!
It can be the result of hormonal imbalances or even medication that you may be taking.
Prolactin is the hormone that causes milk production. Sometimes prolactin levels remain high for a long time after giving up breastfeeding.
Some women produce milk for years after they have stopped breastfeeding!
To be on the safe side, I would advise you see your GP to get checked out.
I hope this helps!
