Breastfeeding Mums : Media Kit - Professional Credits

Sinead, breastfeedingMums.com

Sinead Hoben (nee McLoughlin) was born and brought up in Newry, Co Down, N. Ireland. The eldest of four children, in 1993 she attended the University of Ulster at Coleraine where she read English and graduated with a 2:1 Honours degree in 1996. In 1997 she qualified with a Post-graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), again at the UUC.

In 1997 she moved to Jersey, Channel Islands, where she worked as a supply teacher in several primary schools until her wedding in 1998. She then returned to Newry and took up several long-term supply teaching posts in both primary and grammar schools. She continued teaching until the birth of her second child in 2003 whereupon she decided to become a full-time mother.

In 2005, after the birth of her son, whilst attending a local breastfeeding support group she became aware that there was a real need to help other breastfeeding mothers. She discovered that many of these women struggled to continue breastfeeding due to lack of support from family and friends and because they lacked the knowledge that much of what they were experiencing was normal.

Consequently she made the decision to put her teaching skills to new use and set up BreastfeedingMums.com. Alongside the site's complementary blog, within a short period of time BreastfeedingMums.com quickly became popular amongst pregnant and breastfeeding women; it continues to grow and thrive with visitors both locally and worldwide.
