Pregnancy Day by Day: Day 8
By day 8 of pregnancy your period should have ended. Now is the time to start making that baby! Having sex a few days before and after ovulation improves your chance of getting pregnant.
You can tell when you are ovulating as your cervical mucus will become very clear and stretchy, rather like egg-white. This mucus is believed to make it easier for the sperm to swim along the vagina and enter the cervix. Itis also believed to also provide nutrition for the sperm.
Try to relax and enjoy trying for your baby and remember it may not necessarily happen the first month you try. However, if it doesn't happen within 6 months and you are under 35, or within 3 months and you are over 35, then you should speak to your doctor in case you are experiencing fertility problems. You may be required to undertake some tests to ascertain yours and your partner's fertility. In most cases pregnancy will occur naturally but it is worth finding out about potential problems sooner rather than later so further action or treatment can be undertaken.
