Signs of Labor - Lightening
In the weeks before the birth of your first baby, your baby will move down lower into your pelvis in preparation for birth. This is known as lightening since it decreases the pressure on your lungs making breathing easier.
With subsequent babies, lightening often occurs very close to the onset of labor, maybe just a few days beforehand.
As a result of lightening, you may feel as if your baby is about to be born at any moment! Another result of this increased pressure very low down in your pelvis is that walking and sitting can become uncomfortable.
Other Signs of Labor:
Rupture of the Membranes (Waters Breaking)
