Signs of Labor - Increased Vaginal Discharge/ Show
It is very likely that you will have more vaginal discharge than normal in the lead up to your labor and this is usually due to your changing hormone levels.
Imminent labor is often signified by by a blood-stained or brown-streaked mucous discharge, also known as a Show. This is the plug that has been blocking your cervix, the entrance to the uterus, and protecting your baby from germs. If it comes away, your labor may begin very soon.
However, many women lose this plug weeks or days before the labor starts and often don't notice as it may be lost in the bath or lavatory.
If you pass blood rather than blood-stained or brown-streaked mucous, call your midwife or hospital immediately.
