Free Online Pregnancy Test
To take our free online Pregnancy test you'll need to answer a number of questions which can indicate pregnancy.
Before taking the pregnancy test ask yourself whether pregnancy is actually likely to be a cause of the symptoms you may be feeling. Have you had unprotected sex recently or is there a reason your contraception may have failed (eg antibiotics, stomach upset or diarrhorea if you are on the contaceptive pill.), and whether you may have been ovulating at the time or within a few days either side of having sex (you can use our ovulation calculator)?
You should be aware however that it takes around one week after intercourse before a fertilized egg reaches the uterus and implants itself and it is only at this stage that you may begin experiencing physical symptoms of pregnancy.
So let's get started:
Are you experiencing:
Increased Cervical Mucous/ Vaginal Discharge?
If you have answered yes to one or more of the above and you have had sex recently you may be pregnant. To confirm your pregnancy it will be necessary to test your urine or blood for the presence of HCG, the pregnancy hormone. Your doctor will be able to do either test free of charge and some pharmacies also offer free pregnancy testing.
If you'd rather try to find out for yourself, many tests on the market can be used to detect pregnancy in the very early stages, in some cases up to a week before before you've missed a period. You can buy a suitable pregnancy test online or in many pharmacies and supermarkets.
A positive result means HCG has been detected. It is very unlikely that you will have a false positive. False negative results are more common as the levels of HCG may not yet be high enough to detect your pregnancy.
If you get a negative result and still feel that you are pregnant, then you should retest after a week or so as your hormone levels will be much higher by then.
If you do get a positive pregnancy result, you should see your doctor as soon as possible so she can discuss your pregnancy with you and offer advice about diet and lifestyle and what sort of antenatal care you want. She will also fill out booking in forms so you can receive appropriate antenatal care.
